Why We Exist
Kenning Learning grew from a question that followed our co-founder, Danny Reyes, through years of teaching: How do we help students become less dependent on the teacher and more capable of directing their own learning?
What began as an effort to help struggling students become confident, independent writers developed through more than a decade of classroom-based research, teaching, observation, instructional design, and refinement.
That work eventually became the R-Method™, the pedagogical framework behind Kenning Learning Co. Today, our family is building Kenning Learning around that same purpose: helping learners develop the competence, confidence, and independence to take greater ownership of their learning.

Education Should Prepare Us for Life!
We believe it is time to rethink how we see education, not because education is broken, but because we have too often lost sight of its purpose.
Schooling is about more than preparing students for the next test, diploma, college application, or job. Those may be important milestones, but they are not the destination.
Education should prepare young people to live as independently as possible while contributing meaningfully to the society around them. It should help students develop the knowledge, skills, judgment, communication, and intellectual independence they need to continue learning, make thoughtful decisions, build relationships, pursue meaningful work, and participate in their communities.
Ultimately, we educate children so they can build full, happy, and fulfilling lives, whatever path they choose.
At Kenning Learning Co., we believe every learner has gifts worth developing. Education should help students discover those gifts, strengthen the skills needed to use them well, and become increasingly capable of directing their own lives.

Kenning Learning Co. is family-owned and operated. The people who shape our curriculum are the same people who answer your emails, sit with students, and care how each one is growing.
Daniel “Danny” Reyes
Co-Founder, Instructional Architect & Lead Educator
Danny Reyes is an educator, curriculum designer, trainer, and coach whose experience helping people learn spans classroom teaching, corporate training, coaching, and decades of work with young people through Scouting. He has more than a decade of classroom teaching experience and continues to serve as Kenning Learning Co.’s primary educator.
He holds an MA in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama, a Specialist degree in Negotiation and International Relations, and a BA in Literature.
Danny developed the R-Method™ through sustained academic research and practical application. Its development has drawn on peer-reviewed scholarship and other academic research alongside classroom observation, instructional experimentation, curriculum development, and direct work with learners. What began as an effort to understand how struggling writers could become more confident and independent gradually developed into the broader pedagogical framework that guides Kenning Learning today.
At Kenning Learning, Danny leads curriculum and instructional development while continuing to work directly with students. His approach reflects his belief that education should prepare young people for far more than the next academic milestone. It should help them develop the knowledge, skills, judgment, and independence to continue learning, contribute meaningfully to society, and build full and fulfilling lives.
Danny and his wife and co-founder, Lina, first began dating in 1999 and have now been married for 20 years. Kenning Learning is an extension of that long partnership: a family-owned company they are building together around education, relationships, and a shared commitment to the families they serve.
